Dont forget to look both ways if you are going through an intersection. NOT EVERYONE is paying attention! It is tragic when people die assuming everyone follows the law as they do. THIS IDIOT makes it HARDER for the rest of us, because some desk driving politician sees clamping down on truckers as a way to make himself relevant, by passing more laws for U.S. Department of Transportation to try to enforce. Law enforcement has a difficult enough job. Sending cadres of them out to pull over and inspect every trucker they can, means they miss guys like this weaving down the road BEFORE they hit anyone. ....Guys like the ones I see EVERY DAY, because I am out among them, trying to DO MY JOB, and hoping I dont get put out of hours (and have to lose a day) by a random logbook check. Lets go down the list...of MAYBES (might explain this but none of which excuse this!) A.Maybe he wasnt worried about the $2500 fine for texting and driving a commercial vehicle (or about getting fired after his boss paid the $16,000 fine) B.Maybe his log books (written or e-log) dont reflect that he had something better to do than SLEEP during his off-time. C. Maybe he was drunk or partaking in a controlled substance. D. Maybe he had a heart attack even though he paid his doctor extra to pass his medical. E. Maybe he was in a hurry, and skipped the pretrip F. Maybe he was trying to make up the 45min to 1 1/2 hours spent watching law enforcement fish through his logbooks and nitpick his equipment because his reflective tape was an inch too short. Every TRUE PROFESSIONAL trucker has this one thing in the back of his mind... If a motor vehicle is a deadly weapon, an 18 wheeler is a WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION. This guy obviously wasnt professional enough to remember that.
