Dont give up!! The Royal is a heartbreakingly dilapidated shadow of its former self. The traditional family country pub and hub of village has been forcibly stripped of its historic livery, lies pitifully imprisoned and now awaits its fate. Its valiant supporters are worn down by the relentless planning machine, the Royals now haunting image and the determined aspirations of its owner. A small token licensed café (which also threatens the Newsagent teashop) are the only crumbs being thrown to assuage the longings of the people of Silverdale to have the village pub returned in its entirety. The Royals resources, beer garden,a lovely centre to the village, the lunches, family get togethers, music events are gone forever giving way to housing already passed. The historic building itself still can be retrieved..its not over yet. If the latest planning application goes through any future positive opportunities for a real pub, are gone forever. It is a matter of urgency now to put an objection to the latest application. This is the Royal Hotels darkest hour.
