Dont know how this tough old buck lived as long as he did. Came through on the trail of a hot doe that passed through minuets before the first shot. Drilled him at 35 yards shoulder to shoulder, he ran towards me and stopped less than 5 yards from my stand where I thought I was going to see him drop. Could hear the blood leaking out making a tick tick tick sound on the leaves with each breath he took. He took off when I was in the process of grabbing another arrow I remember telling myself stop thinking about the taxidermist bill and shoot him again. After he took off he only ran like 50 yards out of site and I heard a bunch of crashing followed by a big splash in the creek then quiet. Waited in the stand 30 min texting buddies and calling dad at work saying I got big boy. When I got out of my stand and started tracking to my surprise I heard violent splash in the creek so I sprinted around the bend to get a better look and there he was still alive, only able to use one front leg due to shattered opposite shoulder on first shot attempting to get out of the creek. He was about 45 yards away when I anchored him with the second shot up through the chest and out the back. Only wiggled for seconds after that. I love this picture...
