Dont let this here Christmas season drag you down. If you cant - TopicsExpress

Dont let this here Christmas season drag you down. If you cant afford it do not do it. We dont want gifts we want quality time and memories. We might say I want an ipad, xbox, a new dress, a new TV but the truth is we want to facetime you on the ipad, we want to play the video game WITH you, we want to go out for dinner in a new dress, and we want to watch the funniest program on Netflix, Shomi, TV with you. If you are out-doing your neighbours and friends for gifts - you likely have little value on your OWN self. Remember that those who have lost family members want those family members back ALL THE TIME. To hold their hand. To eat too much turkey with. To spill red wine on the white carpet. To fall down in the snow and make snow angels with. We all want QUALITY TIME to make memories NOT stuff. Traditions are a way to make memories. Some of the BEST memories is when we break tradition and all go out for Chinese Food instead of making a turkey all day, or if we all bring an appetizer and play games or all go to the movies and eat popcorn and nibs for dinner. WAY less clean up and if we go for Chinese food we all get to take our #5s home with us for leftovers. Any birthday, holiday or significant event whether a wedding or a funeral - we all want to feel love and to give it. We want to remind people we love them, we value them that they make a difference in our lives. Perhaps by words, perhaps by holding their hand, perhaps by babysitting their kids so they can get a date night out, perhaps a new pair of earrings or a box of their favorite cherry chocolates. Remember Love Doesnt Cost a Thing. And everyone is deserving of love. No matter what they have done. Christmas is a time of life and love lessons. The best Christmas gift I ever got my family was winter tires for myself one year as I got to make it home safely. Your kids, your family your friends do not want gifts. They want to roll ont he floor with you, sing loudly in the mall and embarrass themselves, they want to lose their breath while laughing to hard they almost pee their pants, they want to stick their tongue on a frozen pole and talk about it for their rest of their life, they want to have a family friend dress up as Santa, they want to play Monopoly all night and complain about it forever, they want to visit a ski resort and remember it forever, they want to be pulled behind a vehicle in the Whitevale subdivision with skis yelling Merry Christmas to everyone Christmas morning, they want to walk ALL THE WAY over to Creekside Acres and sled down the hill, they want to cut down a Christmas tree and make a fire in the bush, they want to be shown how to make the best stuffing every so they can make it for years to come. Some how quality time has passes us by for stuff. Somehow facetime has settled us rather than making it face to face. Somehow we think we dont matter and that toys, gadgets and things do. We dont ever hear I shuda made more money, I shuda ran more races, I shuda bought another car, I shuda had one more brand new vehicle when a person dies. They say I am sorry I couldnt have been there more for you. I am sorry I was so hard on you. I am sorry I didnt love you more. I am sorry I wasnt able to be honest. Death is one of the BEST things that happens to us in life. It reminds us what the BS is and what is meaningful. Live life to the fullest. Make mistakes. Love out loud. Get mad. Forgive. Make a snow fort. And love the sh!t out of people anyways. You may be the only LOVE, a represenation of God, family, friends or forgiveness a person sees, feels, or hears this Holiday Season. Invest in making memories they are free, they last a life time and they fill our hearts. Time is what we all really want when there is none left. Make this Christmas a time filled one. And LOVE the sh!t out of people anyways!
