Dont mess with the sharks and they wont mess with you (well much less likely to) many shark bites are provoked like this one, by fishing and using bait or killing fish that draws in sharks to investigate. in the last 50 years in NSW 22% of bites were recorded as provoked. However the latest fatality at Tathra was not reported as provoked even though illegal shark fishing occurs off the wharf where the lady was bitten. So I would expect way more than 22% of shark bites are provoked - like the one in USA last week.
