Dont miss our next concert - here is the scoop: The Arizona Winds presents its Spring concert, “Fiesta Latina”, on Sunday, April 13, at 3:00 p.m. in the Mountain Ridge High School Auditorium. Admission is free. This concert is a Latin extravaganza, noted the bands conductor and music director, Colonel Rich Shelton. The music of Latin America, Spain and Cuba is so fiery and exciting. This will be a real cornucopia of styles, rhythms and musical colors, continued Shelton. Trumpeter Tom Schultz will be featured on Chuck Mangiones Children of Sanchez and guest trumpeter Dave Coolidge will be featured on Joaquin Rodrigos En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor which was highlighted in the movie Brassed Off. A tour de force called Cuba by composer Stephen Melillo will explore the unique tonal colors and rhythms of the Cuban culture while El Camino Real takes the listener on a tour of Spain with its flamingo flare and folk melodies. Other program titles include Espana Rhapsody by Emmanuel Chabrier, Symphonic Dance # 3 by Clifton Williams, a Dance Suite on Spanish and Latin Rhythms, and the ever-familiar Malaguena The band’s season includes two more concerts following the April 13th performance: Sunday, May 18th at Sun City Grand and Sunday, May 25th at Mountain Ridge High School.
