Dont miss the chance to learn from a highly acclaimed, award-winning speaker co-sponsored by the PTO and Community Parent Network (a committee of the Stevenson H.S. Foundation)! Dr. Ken Ginsburg, nationally renowned adolescent pediatrician, professor at University of Pennsylvania, and contributor to the film Race to Nowhere, will present two programs: *Thursday, November 7th: 9am-11am Building Resilience: Giving Kids Roots and Wings at North Shore Unitarian Church in Deerfield. AND 7pm-9pm Authentic Success: Raising Youth To Thrive at Stevenson H.S. PAC in Lincolnshire Wednesday, Nov. 13 9:30am-11am Vernon Area Public Library in Lincolnshire. Facilitated by District 96 Superintendent, Julie Schmidt. Follow-up discussion open to ALL parents (who attended Dr. Ginsburgs talks or not) to discuss what was learned and application to our parenting. RSVP is encouraged for ALL programs and to be eligible for a drawing to win one of Dr. Ginsburgs books (must be present to win): https://drkenginsburg.eventbrite What parents say about Dr. Ginsburg: Dr. Ginsburg’s message was outstanding, accessible, and practical -- and parents responded with a prolonged (and well-deserved) ovation at the end of his talk. Absolutely terrific. Dr Ginsburg empowers parents to raise children who love, accept, and protect themselves. Success depends more on resilience than on grade point average, high-stakes tests, or college prestige. What is resilience? Dr. Ginsburg will explain, exploring his 7 Cs Model of Resilience and offering practical strategies to help parents foster resiliency. 7pm-9pm Authentic Success: Raising Youth To Thrive As much as parenting is about thinking on your feet and meeting your child’s needs today, Dr. Ginsburg reminds us that our longterm goal is to raise thriving 35-year-olds. Rather than trying to smooth their children’s paths, what can parents do to develop their children’s emotional and social intelligence?
