Dont miss this wonderful opportunity. Oral History and - TopicsExpress

Dont miss this wonderful opportunity. Oral History and Scanning Old Photos Saturday, January 25th 9am - until 2pm Community Center/Fire Station We are thinking about doing the interviews a little different and less stressful for most of us who don’t like to talk in front of people, end up tongue tied or go blank when recorded. Personally, I’m one of those! So, that in mind, how about if we form a large circle and share stories and we’ll record them. A lot of times when someone talks about a story, it may trigger a memory to add or it may remind you of another story to tell. We want to make sure we get your story and a chance to hear them all at the same time! I’m thinking in the main area of the building for this activity. We’ll call this the quiet zone. Guidelines: 1. Only one person talks at a time. Yes, that will be the hardest thing; I have Cedar Island blood in me too, but is necessary for everyone to hear the stories. 2. If you want to talk to someone and it isn’t part of the group discussion, please go outside or go to the dining room. If it is another topic, please quietly let one of the staff know and we will add it as a topic or better yet, write it down. 3. Allow recorders (who are located in the middle) time to move to the person who wants to add something so we can get close enough to record your story. Please state your full name before you speak. 4. You can quietly join or leave the circle at any time. Go have your photos scanned and come back! There will be another station set up where you can bring your photos to be scanned. So don’t forget them. This would probably be done in the dining area so not to disturb the big group. Here are a few possible topics that I came up with. Please let me know of additional topics. We are not limited to just these. 1. Hog Island 2. Seafood industry Past to Present 3. Pony Penning 4. Stories of individuals 5. Ferry Landing 6. Post Offices and their Post Masters 7. 33 storm 8. Indians 9. Lost Colony Note: I’ll make a quiet sign for someone to rise if they forget and they talk. Works like what they do during a golf tournament. No one has to yell for them to be quiet.
