Dont put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there (Psalm 146:3). Have you been thinking that the only way to get ahead is to cultivate people? Living that way shows lack of trust in God. Only God can get you ahead. The Bible says that promotion doesnt come from the East or the West, but promotion comes from the Lord (Psalm 75:6). Jude tells us that in the last days there will be people who masquerade as Christians who live this way, These people are grumblers and complainers, doing whatever evil they feel like. They are loudmouthed braggarts, and they flatter others to get favors in return (Jude 16). Most flattery is based in deception or in fear. We dont have to fear people, I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? (Psalm 56:11). Cultivating your relationship with God will do more for you than cultivating people, and He can really pull strings for you, He has connections! Lord, search my heart and show me today if there are times when my words are insincere and motivated by deception or the fear of man. Give me the confidence that you are taking care of me.
