Dont remind me. At the time of the trials, one of them had opened up a restaurant business under his fathers name called Lago Restaurant west of International Mall. I was their accountant as he was my neighbor to the back of our house. At the same time, as my accounting practice was a small side business, I was an executive at a bank. I was summoned to the federal courthouse to testify as to what numbers were provided to me for the restaurant which I fully complied. Two weeks later the bank I worked for had a court order to force open a safe deposit box in the name of the same individual. I was in charge of that and once again I was summoned to the federal court to testify as to the contents of the safe deposit box. When I went up to the witness box the feds and the defense team were all shocked to see me again. This brought up a lot of questions and issues as to my involvement with the defendant in two separate but related matters of the River Cops. Im not sure at this time but I think it was Armando Garcia the one that was my client and that of the bank. This particular cop was involved in trying to or got to murder a witness and when busted he pleaded to help the feds with his testimony against everyone else. He ended up being sentenced but went to what I understand up north and was referred to as the Fed Hilton where he served some years then got out for good behavior and cooperation. By the time he got out I had left the banking industry and had my practice full time and, yup, he came to me to do his tax returns. After all, while he was in jail I had been doing his wifes tax returns. After two years, I heard that he moved out of state and never heard of him again.
