Dont think of it like a grave but rather like an underground townhouse/cave-labyrinth .... The babies are in a nest that is not directly beneath the opening but rather down one of multiple paths to the side. They hear/smell her and start making their way to the surface. When they are younger they cant do this so the mum would open the borrow and then make her way down to them., burrows are a network of chambers over different levels. They generally have multiple exits. There is plenty of air inside and the babies are perfectly safe. did you see my clip of Teegee doing something similar (but she didnt have any babies)??
