Don’t Let Me Go *Added chapter* Intro- I feel my breath leave my body as I fall onto my back. I cough and sputter trying to recover my breath. I blink, trying to hold back the tears of pain. I hold myself up on my elbows, my breath still shaky. A large, glass dome is only centimetres from my toes. If hadn’t of pushed me, it would’ve surely crushed me. I scramble to my feet, pressing my hands to the glass, pounding it with my fists. I watch him on the other side, his large hands in the place where my hands are smashing against the dome. He shakes his head, and speaks words I can’t hear. Tears run down my cheeks, as I stop pounding, watching my blood fall down the glass. He looks away in pain, only to see shadows coming toward him from the forest. He takes a few steps back, his hands falling from the dome. ‘I love you’ He mouths, before pointing to the forests behind me, and then runs in the opposite direction to the shadows. Chapter 1- What is he doing? My mind is whirling nearly as fast as my heart is beating. How could he leave me here alone, on the outside? I watch the shadows become clearer, showing one short, and one tall man. My instincts kick in, and I rush over to the bushes, shrinking into a little ball, as to not be seen. “Do you think he knows what’s going on?” A gruff voice says angrily. I feel myself shrink smaller in fear of the voice. He sounds dangerous. “Of course he does. He knows he’s being hunted. Has for a long time. It won’t be long until we find him. He can’t hide forever.” A slick, smooth voice says. This voice isn’t as scary, but it has cunningness to it. It sends involuntary shivers down my spine. Are they talking about Harry? They could be for all I know. He only moved here a short while ago, three, four months maybe. We hit it off right away. I wasn’t surprised, he was quite a gentlemen, asking my parents’ permission to take me out for dinner, then charming me with him ability to make me feel special. He made me weak at the knees. He always asked me to run away with him. He said one day he would have to leave, and he desperately wanted me to go with him. But I couldn’t leave. I’ve lived in Emmersford my entire life. I couldn’t just pick up and leave for one guy, could I? But lately, things have been getting out of hand. Harry’s had been pressuring me, telling me he couldn’t stay long, and even though we barely knew each other, I couldn’t bear to be without him. In fact, just before the dome came, he was asking me again. He said he was leaving tomorrow, and if I really wanted to be with him as much as he wanted to be with me, I’d meet him there. “Do you think he’ll escape again?” The gruff voice asks, a tint of pleasure in his voice at the thought of a dramatic escape. I hear a whomp, and assume by the whine that follows that the gruff voiced man just got slapped. “Not this time. Not as long as that handy girl is around. Little does she know she’s a key element in this master plan. He won’t leave without her, and she refuses to leave. Like I said, he can’t hide forever.” The sly voice says. The voices have faded to silence by the time I let a long, overdue breath leave my lips. I curl into a ball, my knees to my chest. I close my eyes, taking in the entire conversation, replaying it in my head. It has to be Harry. Doesn’t it? Even the thought makes me question everything. Every smile, every blush, every sweet word that left his perfect lips. Was it all a lie? Was I-Am I just a piece in his little game? There’s a dark side to Harry Styles. And somehow I’ve managed to get myself caught up in it. Chapter 2- The urge to run away from home, Harry and everything inside the dome grows as the sky darkens. If Harry gets caught, the dome is lifted and everyone inside is set free. But if Harry escapes, the same thing will happen. So either we wait, or we help. Knowing the community I was born and raised in, Harry will be hunted down in no time. If it is Harry they were looking for. I sigh, tossing possibilities over in my mind, but the only conclusion I come to is that Harry is the one they’re looking for. He’s escaped before, meaning he moves all the time, and he’s the only new person in Emmersford for a long time. But why do they want him? What could he possibly do that was this bad? He seemed like a good guy, or maybe it was just an act, a part of his plan. I lie on my back, still tucked out of sight. I look up at the tinted purple sky, realising that I never tended to the cuts on my hands. I quickly sit up, crossing my legs and look at the dried blood. I stick my nail gently in the cut, and it stops only just under the skin. Not too deep. They’ll heal on their own in no time. Another cold wind makes my skin tingle, and I groan, realizing I have to eventually move to stop myself from freezing to death. I take a deep breath, before getting onto my knees, my eyes scanning over the hedge quickly. Nothing but trees, just the way it usually is. The people looking for Harry must have been examining him from afar for a long time since he got here. They knew exactly where to look when the dome went down. Our spot, right at the edge of the woods, as it starts thinning out. No one ever went there. No animals for food, no shelter. They saw it as useless. Not us, we saw it as privacy. I stand up quickly, brushing down my faded jeans and walking slowly around the area. I don’t want to go too far, in case Harry escapes and comes to find me, so I end up settling about fifty meters away, in a little ditch surrounded by bushes. I close my eyes, the weight of today finally landing on my shoulders. My eyes droop heavily, but I can’t fall asleep. I hum to myself; the song Harry declared was ours. I can practically see Harry in on his roof, his jacket draped around my shoulders as we laugh, the radio blaring from his phone. Suddenly, a slow sweet song I’d never heard comes on, and Harry’s face goes serious. “This is my favourite song.” He says softly, taking my small hand in his large one. He smiles at me, his eyes glimmering. “This is our song. Every time you feel like no one loves you, I want you to listen to it, and remember, no matter where in the world I am, I love you.” He says sheepishly, his face going red. He’d never said he loved me before. Ever since that night, I’ve fallen asleep to the sweet melody of our song. Why should tonight be different? Chapter 3- My eyelids flutter open, and a bright light fills my eyes. I moan Harry’s name lightly under my breath, before shielding my eyes with my hands. I feel the hair on my arms stand up, as it leaves the warmth of the blanket covering me from head to toe. Wait, blanket? I sit upright instantly, taking in my surroundings. A long white walled room, with nothing but a bed, and a bedside table. The blankets are a light cream, and it’s really warm, so there must be a heater somewhere. I lean toward the bedside table, stretching across the king sized bed. I shuffle down the mattress to eventually reach he table. Placed on top was a small bell, and by the looks of it, that was it. I picked it up, and it jingled lightly. I hold it in my palm, examining the small delicate pattern. Where am I? The doors at the end of the room fly open, and two small women rush in, one on each side of the bed. I quickly place the bell back on the table, and I feel a blush rise on my cheeks. “Hello dear, my names Muriel and this is Marie.” The lady to my right says softly, gesturing to the lady on my other side, who curtseys awkwardly. “My lady said that you should dress and meet her as soon as you could. If you follow us down the hall, you’ll find yourself in the bathroom, where your clothes are waiting. You can shower, and then we’ll escort you to madams private study room.” Marie says, as Muriel looks around nervously. I shuffle down the bed, and hop out on Marie’s side. She smiles, looking into the top corner of the room before leading me out. I follow, my arms crossed over my chest protectively. The ladies seem nice, but I still don’t understand where I am, or why I’m here. I think I would know by now if there was a place as big as this in Emmersford. Marie opens the door, and ushers me inside. I expect her to close it after me, but Muriel follows me in, and we stand together, in quite close quarters gawkily. “I’m sorry about this dear, but there are cameras everywhere but here, for privacy reasons. When you meet with Madame, you must not tell her anything. If you want your friend safe and alive, keep your lips closed. She will use anything, and everything against you. For the sake of yourself, and your friends and family, don’t tell her anything.” Muriel then walked out briskly, closing the door softly behind her. Well, that was confronting. I turn on the shower tap and wait for the temperature to adjust before stripping down and climbing in. The hot water runs down my body, and I breathe in the warm air. What is going on? Why am I here? What do they want from me? Could it possibly be that I’ve gotten myself deeper into Harry’s past than I ever imagined? I turn the hot water, and wrap the bland towel around my body before stepping onto the shower mat. I guess there’s only one way to find out. 3+ likes and FEEDBACK!
