Don’t Put Justice in Chains in Ekiti, Youths Tell Fayose the case portends a great danger to the administration of justice in the state and capable of undermining the nations justice system. Reacting to the refusal of Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi to continue to try the case over threats to his life and members of his family arising from allegation of bias against Fayose, the group through its spokesman, Charles Fakunle, wondered where the governor would have a judge that would not be biased against him in the entire Ekiti State judiciary. The Chief Judge, Mr. Justice Ayodeji Daramola, was the first to handle the case. Fayose complained that Justice Daramola was biased against him. The case was transferred to Justice Abodunde, yet it was the same complaint before it was transferred to Justice Ogunyemi, yet allegation of bias is again being raised against the third judge, Fakunle explained. The group wondered why all the judges in Ekiti State Judiciary should be biased against an indigene of the state if that individual is not having problems with his integrity. Fakunle added: Fayoses supporters disrupted Ogunyemis court when he assumed jurisdiction to try the case. The judge was rough-handled by thugs while windows and furniture in the court were smashed. Few days later, Fayose led thugs to the court where Mr. Justice Adeyeye, lawyers and other court officials were beaten. Official records in the Chief Judges office were torn and his secretary beaten. This is intimidation of the judiciary to be followed by blackmail of the judges to escape justice. Is it in the Mars that an unbiased judge will be found to try this criminal case in Ekiti State? The group said that a man who is a threat to the administration of justice is a threat to the judiciary, stressing that a threat to the judiciary is also a threat to the very survival of the country. It called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to be bold and decisive in handling the perjury case instituted by E11 group in Ekiti State, saying that allowing a criminal suspect to escape justice portends a great danger to the administration of justice and an open invitation to anarchy and impunity by political leaders to run the judiciary down in the course of its judicial adjudication.
