Don’t Quit. God didn’t call us to trouble- free marriages. Every Christian & every godly marriage will face trials, trouble & pain. Jesus said “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world." John 16:33. The purpose of marriage is not trouble-free living. Marriage is purposed to glorifying God & to exemplify divine oneness, unconditional love & unmerited forgiveness. There is no better place to develop a godly character than in marriage. In marriage every virtue is perfected. Our love is tested, our forgiveness is tried & our endurance is perfected. If our spouses never disappointed us, how would we learn unmerited forgiveness? If our spouses never fail us, how would we learn unconditional love? If our spouses were quick to apologize & change, how would we learn commitment & endurance? Every marriage problem is meant to leave us better citizen of the heavenly home. Quitting accomplishes the exact opposite. Press on!
