Don’t be confused by dark money. Don’t be confused by Proposition 487. The wrong reform for Phoenix. Wrong for public safety. Wrong for Phoenix taxpayers. We need smart, sustainable pension reform in the City of Phoenix. We don’t need Prop 487. This “dark money” measure goes too far. What happens if Prop 487 passes? It will end death and disability benefits for police officers and fire fighters killed or hurt in the line of duty. That’s wrong. It will destroy retirement benefits for our frontline police officers and fire fighters. They protect us every day. We must protect their retirement security. The City will need to spend years and millions of dollars defending this unconstitutional plan. Lawyers will make millions while taxpayers foot the bill. Prop 487 will cost Phoenix taxpayers at least $350 million over the next 20 years, according to the City’s analysis. That’s nearly $700 per family. Reform that costs you money? That’s Prop 487 – the wrong reform.
