Don’t feel like going to church tomorrow, but interested in - TopicsExpress

Don’t feel like going to church tomorrow, but interested in coming to a space where you can converse about the revolution erupting in cities world-round? Come join Freedom Fellowship tomorrow Sunday night at 4 pm at Grill on the Hill (West 140th and Amsterdam). We will talk about police violence, military torture and try to discern a spiritual-political pathway toward healing and hope—together. This morning I left #NYC at 5:30 am with the New York Theological Seminary Freedom Bus and we joined the #Justice4All March, while #MillionsMarchNYC flooded Washington Square Park. During my journey,I was able to meet Michael Brown, Sr. and Benjamin Garner, the fathers of #MikeBrown and #EricGarner. Listening to their stories and the pathos and pain behind them really broke my heart. They are still experiencing deep grief. At one point, Benjamin Garner, who is from Rocky Point, North Carolina, told me he was really going to miss Eric this Christmas: “It won’t be the same without him.” #EricGarner is more than a political symbol for the movement to end police violence, he is a flesh and blood human, a son of our city, a brother in the Lord, whose breathe was/is the very breathe of God. A loving husband, father of four, grandfather, brother (I met his step-sister Jasmine) and son, Eric was beloved by family and friends. This Christmas won’t be the same without Eric. The feeling of deep grief in the absence of one you love is captured in the Coldplay song “Christmas Light”: When youre still waiting for the snow to fall It doesnt really feel like Christmas at all. Hope to see you tomorrow at 4 pm!
