Don’t forget to plant French marigolds among your vegetables as an organic means of pest control. Their strong smell distracts pests from your main crop and their roots give off a chemical that reduces the numbers of slugs and wireworms. Basil will deter whitefly from tomatoes. Herbs such as chives, dill and thyme will distract pests with their scent and will also attract pollinators to your garden thus increasing yields.
