Don’t malign me, Akala warns opponents Former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has cautioned his political opponents against maligning him in the name of electioneering campaign. Akala said they should rather engage themselves in telling the people what they would do for the state or what they had done in the past. The warning was contained in a statement by ‘Team Akala’, the campaign group of the former governor, working for him to stage a come-back in 2015 under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In the statement signed by the Team’s Coordinator, Niran Adeyoju, the group said “Team Akala frowned at the indiscriminate dissemination of untrue information about the personality of Otunba Alao-Akala by politicians to score cheap political goals.” It cautioned the opponents against circulating fake and damaging stories about him in the news and on social media. “Otunba Akala did not only perform creditably well, he was the first governor in the history of Oyo State who made remarkable achievements through socio -economic protection policy that enhanced economic and social growth of the state during his tenure without making life difficult for people,” the group stated.
