Don’t politicize PM’s speech for children: BJP Ujjwal jammu 03/09/14 Reacting sharply to Omar Abdullah’s statement that PM’s speech should not be mandatory on Teacher’s day and every address should be listened voluntarily is uncalled for, as this is not a political speech and is a direct nation building measure by Prime Minister of India says BJP state spokesperson Arun Kumar Gupta. He asserted that the leaders of the country give guidelines to the public as they have a better vision, exposure and in-depth understanding of the situation of country. There has been a big vacuum in the system of governance where focus on the young children is negligible. The fact is that the focus on the young minds should be in the highest priority of any leadership and guiding them regarding culture, ethos and basic discipline should be seriously taken up at regular intervals. Arun Kumar Gupta further pointed out that the initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an example that should be followed by other leaders as well. Our young Chief Minister also needs to understand that leaders are not meant for grown up masses alone. A true leader is one who addresses and inspires young minds also and focuses on them as well through right teachings. In the history of India, this initiative of the PM could be the beginning of a new revolution wherein the future generation is being taken very seriously. By the time this generation grows up, they will transform into mature and sensible citizens of the country. He stressed that had this practice been adopted by our leaders earlier, the nation would have been much better off now. This young generation that the PM will address is our future and needs to be guided, addressed and heard so that we can shape up their views and guide them towards the right goal. The BJP state spokesperson regretted that the issue has been needlessly politicized. He said that the initiative should be appreciated by one and all so that a new sense of responsibility grows in the leadership of the country. This will help us in becoming more responsive towards the nation while addressing the mature and young alike. Gupta said that the PM had established a direct communication with the students of the country in his independence day also. The PM had focused on lack of toilets in a number of schools across the country and appealed to the legislators and corporate to help build them. The PM’s focus on girl child in schools has been applauded by all quarters and the corporate are queuing up to help build the nation. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under Atal Behari Vajpayee had taken an initiative to draw more children to the schools. PM Narendra Modi’s initiative in addressing the children directly on September 5 is in keeping with the BJP’s past record. It is a pity that some sections were trying to unnecessary raise a controversy regarding a subject where no controversy exists. This needs to be condemned in strong words, Gupta added.
