Dorina Kioa has been appointed as the New Manager of TBEC (Tonga Business Enterprise Centre), taking over from Cyril Guiramand who has been in the role for over two years. TBEC is a facility of the Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry and funded through the NZ Aid Programme. TBEC Supports businesses throughout Tonga with Business Advice, Support and Project Funding, and trained almost 1,000 people in 44 different subjects in 2013. Dorina has a background in Human Resources Management and a passion for empowering people to reach their full potential. I feel greatly honoured and excited to accept this role, and build on the hard work that my two predecessors have done to make TBEC the success it is now. Dorinas future focus will be to build up the programmes aimed at the informal sector (WHY), and to the outer islands. Cyril leaves Tonga in May to return to his own business in Australia. I am sad to leave Tonga, but am proud of everything we have accomplished at TBEC. During the last three years TBEC has been recognized as a high level Private Sector Training and Business Support Provider. Dorinas contract is for two years and commenced on 3rd March 2014.
