Dorothy Patton said she still remembers the day when she used her prosthetic arm to signal a left turn from behind the wheel of her father’s car. “The suction on the arm came loose and my arm went flying off,” Patton, 72, said. “The guy in the car behind me almost had a heart attack. That was over 50 years ago and I still get a laugh out of it.” Today, the substitute teacher with the Victor Elementary School District expresses herself through the fine strokes of a paint brush on canvas.
