Dorrie & I watched Inside Llewynn Davis last night on DVD. A few thoughts: 1) Thats 2 hours we can never get back. We kept thinking surely it will get better. 2) The music was good. Shouldve listened to the soundtrack instead of watching the movie. 3) Very few likable characters. I can think of only 3-- all minor characters and one of those was a cat. 4) Just because a movie is artsy doesnt make it good. 5) Just because the Coen Brothers direct a film doesnt make it good. 6) Just because a film snags a lot of awards doesnt make it watchable. 7) Literary Note to Coen Bros: In a story if your protagonist doesnt change at all from the beginning to the end of the story then you DONT HAVE a story. Please review Story & Fiction 101. 8) Ending was bizarre & unsatisfying. 9) Film should be titled Riding in Cars with Strangers in Silence & Blank Stares 10) Spoiler Alert: Llewynss musical duo partner had jumped off a bridge prior to opening scene. By the end of the film I was ready to THROW Llewyn off the bridge, any bridge--anything to bring the film to an interesting conclusion. At least Russell Crowe did us all a favor and jumped off the bridge at the end of Les Miserables.
