Double Standards when it comes to racism by blacks..... November 28, 2014 By Jennifer Burke: Ever since the August 9, 2014 shooting death of Michael Brown by Officer Darren Wilson, Brown has been held up by protesters on a pedestal with their outcry of ‘black lives matter.’ Now, I am black and I believe that all lives matter. However, there are innocent black teens shot by other blacks around the country every single day, and there are no riots, media reports, protests, or speeches by Barack Obama about them. The loss of any life is terrible, but when someone takes actions that put their life at risk, such as charging at a police officer as if you were a football player after being told to stop and wrestling him for his gun, then there must be some responsibility placed on the perpetrator. Contrary to what protesters and agitators want the world to believe, Michael Brown was not an innocent ‘gentle giant’ simply walking down the street and minding his own business. He had just committed a strong armed robbery in which he stole cigars and attacked the store manager. Toxicology reports also indicate that he was high on marijuana and THC. In fact, the levels of THC in his 6’5”, 289 lb body was twice the legal limit to be cited for a DUI in Washington State, where marijuana is legal. In a body his size, that would surely take an awful lot to reach those levels. All of that is said as a backdrop to this story. Nineteen year-old TK Hancock was a sophomore at the University of Memphis and a new father. He was shot, execution style, while sitting in his car outside of the library. Hancock was not shot as part of a violent altercation on his part and it was not gang related. He was murdered, shot several times in the head and neck, in cold blood, for his cell phone. It’s possible he was targeted because the girl he was dating was also seeing one of the people who ultimately killed him. His killers were not white. They were black, just like him. While Hancock’s family had to bury their son, nephew, brother, and his child will grow up without a father, his killers have been making rap videos, complete with violent lyrics and gang symbols, while in prison. Barack Obama did not speak out about Hancock’s senseless murder. Al Sharpton did not make a journey to stand before the cameras with his family. Jesse Jackson did not show up to grandstand and accuse the murderers of treating Hancock like a dog. No. None of that occurred. There was deafening silence.
