Douglas College - The Training Group Province*: BC Address*: 10060 King George Blvd City*: Surrey, BC Postal Code*: V3T 2W4 : Essential Skills Facilitator - Job Posting 00264 Job Description*: The Essential Skills Marketer/Facilitator will work closely with an internal team of four out of the Surrey Training Centre and will assist and provide support to our pilot site partners in Newfoundland and Ontario to deliver a project model that can be replicated in other locations. In this position the Essential Skills Facilitator will market the project to recruit unemployed Canadians and guide them through an Essential Skills Portfolio development process that assists them to understand their Essential Skills levels in relation to the world of work. Research: - Work with and assist external researchers - Follow data collection and research protocols - Ensure participants understand research and voluntarily agree to participate Marketing: This position will have an emphasis on marketing and will be responsible for developing and implementing the project marketing plan to recruit 700 participants over the course of 14 months. - Develop and distribute marketing materials - Write advertisements - Deliver information sessions - Intake Essential Skills Facilitation: - Register participants - Prepare, invigilate and debrief TOWES assessments - Inform clients of random group assignment - Facilitate two week group Skills Portfolio - Assist with post TOWES invigilation and post project data collection - Participate in team meetings - Maintain client progress records - Submit monthly reports Pilot Partner Support: - Case conference with pilot project staff - Provide coaching and support to partner college pilot sites - Participate in project meetings - Complete reports and paperwork as required To be successful in the role you will need: • 2 years post-secondary education in field related to counseling, employment transition, or social sciences. • 2 years’ experience in marketing • Experience facilitating workshops in workplace training and/or transition programming. • Experience and knowledge of the TOWES (Test of Workplace Essential Skills) • Experience with psychometric testing and report writing • Experience with individual employment counseling • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel • Ability to organize and effectively document confidential client files • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from professional groups and the general public • Experience and ability to communicate effectively with community organizations and other colleagues • Excellent interpersonal skills • Training and experience in handling of difficult people • Essential Skills Practitioner Training Certificate This full time contract position is available for the anticipated period of August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2014 to work on a National Research project out of the Surrey Training Centre. Salary range*: The hourly rate is $26.50 per hour.
