My scenario: A young new mother is experiencing frustration and anxiety regarding a letter she received from the hospital, shortly after giving birth, informing her that her infant son has sickle cell trait. Shes heard a few discouraging things about sickle cell and is hoping to find some answers at a support group for new moms of sickle cell children. Shes been invited to the very popular activity of the support group - Mommy Music - song-writing sessions where the moms, sometimes with their children, compose verses and choruses of songs about their experiences with sickle cell.
