Down in the deep south, we dont get the ideal holiday weather. It doesnt look like a spooky fall landscape around Halloween, it may be a bit cooler at night with slight changes and fall colors.. but thats not always a given. Its never a winter wonderland all dusted in fresh white snow around Christmas.. Its usually cold, wet, & ugly. But theres also been Christmases Ive worn shorts it was so warm. BUT... We have Mardi Gras.. So you can suck on that king cake & choke on the baby. Some years its freezing and rainy, others its so hot and sunny you leave the parades sunburnt on top of a hangover the next day. Some years you get all that in the same day. And as much as it pains me to say because I LIVE for Halloween. Nothing beats Mardi Gras. At no other time of the year is it ok to go out with friends and family partying in the streets acting a fool for cheap plastic beads and moon pies at the parades and have the police party right there with you. And it last for weeks.. Not just a single day. But the actual day of Fat Tuesday.... Boy, some people even get off work and kids out of school. Its that big of a deal. And its one hell of a party. So be jealous.
