Down the road we will be offering a special BJJ soap that combines the power of Tea Tree with might of the hive. It will be based on a trifecta of Tea Tree Oil, Propolis, and Manuka Honey. For those of you not beekeepers, Propolis, is the sticky resin inside of a beehive used as a sealant. It has proven to have antibiotic and antiseptic properties and may also have anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects. Manuka Honey, comes from New Zeland and is derived from the Tea Tree. It has been commonly used for the treatment of wounds. According to doctors, Manuka honeys high sugar content creates a waterless environment in which the bacteria that are infecting a wound are unable to survive. Also, thanks to the presence of an enzyme called glucose oxidase, it is acidic, which apparently adds to its unique antibacterial properties. Thirdly, Tea-Tree Oil, is the final microbial ingredient. In vitro studies show that tea tree oil is capable of killing MRSA in a laboratory setting. Studies have shown that it demonstrated similar rates of eradication when compared to treatment with mupirocin. Lastly we will be combining it with Raw Milk which soothes the sensitive skin and give the bar a nice creamy appearance. I expect to have our first batch made in about 4 weeks and will put up on our website for sale. Looking for a good name for it that ties into bees. Any suggestions.
