Downtown Hamilton Ripe for Revitilization HAMILTON, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- The corner of High and Second Street in Hamilton is ripe for revitalization. Its been empty since the department store Elder-Beerman closed four years ago. The four-story structure has a new owner, with new plans to bring it back to life. Local 12s Larry Davis joins us from Hamilton with more on how this building will be converted into new uses. Everyone has been wondering in Hamilton how much longer the prime piece of real estate would remain vacant on High Street. There are finally some answers and it now appears there is new life being breathed into what many viewed as a dying downtown business district. Elder-Beerman was the last of the big name retailers to pack up and move out of downtown Hamilton. Four years later the 160,000 square foot building remains vacant. But now, a Hamilton re-development group has purchased the building and has big plans for it. They believe breaking it up into a mixed used facility makes more sense. Plans are for offices, apartments or condos, and possibly a grocery store.
