Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje For Kano State Governor 2015 GANDUJE BREAKS SILENCE, DECLARES FOR GOVERNOR: Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Kano State Deputy Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje yesterday broke his long silence over his 2015 ambition and declared that he is interested in succeeding Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as governor of Kano State. There have been speculations in Kano on the ambition of Ganduje who has been with Kwankwaso since 1999 when they were jointly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). With the open expression of interest Ganduje becomes the first in Kwankwaso’s political group known as the Kwankwasiya Movement to come out openly to express his mind on the issue. Interacting with newsmen at his office, Ganduje said he is interested in the job but that he would not declare for now. “I’m interested but I’m not declaring now. I pray when I do you people will support me,” Ganduje who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with his boss, Kwankwaso said. Explaining why he would not declare for the plum job now, Ganduje said the process of strengthening the party in the state is still on saying he would concentrate on that for now. “Ours is a party that was just put in place, of course, with Kwankwasiya members dominating the show. Kwankwasiya group is a highly disciplined group, we take decision at appropriate time and when we do we all follow it. “For me as a person if I say I’m contesting for Kano governorship race come 2015, it is not news but if I say I’m not contesting that is the news. So you people should wait for the time that I will declare my intention. Ambiguity is one of the flavours of politics,” he said. Commenting on the defection of Nuhu Ribadu to PDP from APC, he said the defection of the former anti-corruption boss would not affect the popularity of the party as APC had also won prominent members of the PDP to its fold.
