Dr Amos Adamu, the former FIFA and CAF Executive has completed the ban and now free to return to activities involving football. Adamu was banned for three years by the world football governing body, FIFA after being found guilty of breaching the body’s bribery rules. Apart from the three-year ban imposed on him, he was also fined 10,000 Swiss Francs. Adamu and some other executives were exposed by undercover journalists after they asked for cash in return for World Cup votes. Lashley Oladigbolu writes: The FIFA ban on Dr Amos Adamu is just over. He was banned for three years by the world football governing body FIFA in November 18 2010, after being found guilty of breaching the body’s bribery rules. He was also fined 10,000 Swiss Francs. Sequence to a three days meeting held between 15th to 17th November, 2010 the Ethics Committee reached a decision on six football officials that imposed a ban on the FIFA Executive Committe member, Amos Adamu thus, accordingly preventing him from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for a period of three years. In the same circumstance, also banned for three year for a breach of various articles of the FIFA Code of Ethics are Ismael Bhamjee (CAF honorary member), Amadou Diakite (member of the FIFA Referees Committee), others include Ahongalu Fusimalohi (General Secretary of the Tonga FA), Slim Aloulou (Chairman of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber and member of the FIFA Players’ Status Committee) and Reynald Temarii (FIFA vice-president) who was then President of Oceania’s football federation who was handed a one year ban with CHF 5,000. It however remains unclear whether Dr Adamu will return or not. Adamu could not immediately be reached for comments on his decision
