Dr.Dinesh PORT BLAIR, JAN 12/-/ Rotary District Conference,3291 was held at Swabhumi, Kolkatta on 10th & 11th Januray,2015. The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Mr.P.A Sangma, former speaker of Lok Sabha in the presence of Mr. Pinaki Prasad Ghosh, District Governor and large number of Rotarians from 149 clubs. Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Sangama praised the Rotarians for doing their bit. He also gave the clarion call to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision by making of the use of the best of 3Ds - Democracy, Demography and Demand. He asked Rotarians to build a skilled–India. In the first plenary session past RI Director Shekhar Mehata introduced the keynote speaker PDG Rtn.Vinod Bansal of Rotary District 3010. Second plenary session on vocational service was addressed by Mr. Raghunath Medge – the president of the famous Dabbawala Association of Mumbai. In an inimitable style, he narrated the precision with which the Mumbai Dabbawalas operate. His hilarious and spontaneous narrative on the unique life of the Mumbai Dabbawalas made the Rotarians give him a standing ovation. DGN Shyamashree Sen chaired the session. . Speaking on the topic “Social Change through Service Above Self”, Dr.Subramaniam Swamy –the Economist and politician said that researches had proved that all Indians have the same DNA. He also informed the audience that in NASA’S research, it has been established that Sanskrit is the most computer friendly language in the world and in the near future, the entire world would learn Sanskrit. He commented that commonality among the Multi-lingual Indians should be banked upon to make India a strong country and Rotarians should consider the best means of service to the society. Other Key note speaker was Mr. Manish Tiwari who spoke on “Selfless community service”. Mr. Saibal Chakraborthy, Director, IIM Calcutta spoke on “Leadership in NGO”. All the sessions ended with expression of thanks and felicitations of key note speakers. In this session nine renowned personalities were awarded for vocational Excellence, including Mr. Chandra Shekar Ghosh, Chairman, Bandhan Gramin Bank, Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Cardiac Surgeon, Dr Samaraditya Pal Barrister at Law and Senior Advocate. Rtn. Biswajit Chakraborthy, Chartered Accountant and famous actor of the screen and stage. Rtn.Hariram Garg, Tea planter and Philanthropist, Rtn. Utpal Chatterjee, Journalist and former sheriff of Calcutta, Rtn Shankar Sen, Chairman & MD of Senco Gold & Diamond, Smt. Geeta Venkadakrishnan, Teacher and Social Activist and Janab Mustak Hussian, Chairman Pataka Group. Earlier, MC Rtn.Dr.Arabinda Ray welcomed all the dignitaries and guests to “Probaho” Dr.Dinesh, President Rotary Club of Port Blair & Rtn. Rajesh Anand attended Rotary District Conference, 3291 “Probaho” at Kolkatta.
