Dr James White talks about a fragment of Mark from around 80 AD. It was found in an Egyptian paper mache funerary mask. The middle class Egyptian couldnt afford a gold mask, but he could afford a papyrus mask. Of course, you dont use new papyrus, instead you cut up stuff you dont care about. We use newspaper. They used biblical texts, old letters, business receipts, etc. A few years ago, researchers found a may to break up the masks without removing the ink. It takes weeks but allows the slices to be separated and reassembled into documents. Along the with a first century fragment of Mark, other first century Christian letters were found. These tell us about their doctrine and beliefs. It also tells us that the Church fathers were not lying about when the letters and gospels were written. So for those adhering to the late authorship view of the New Testament, I am sad to inform you that your horse has lost the race. You backed the wrong horse. Eyewitnesses and those who knew them wrote the New Testament books.
