Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurates Workshop on Entrepreneurship Development through Incubation at SMVDU Katra, 30 August. Workshop on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development through Incubation in Jammu and Kashmir State was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office; Minister of State Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy; and Department of Space in the Matrika Auditorium of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra J&K. The workshop was sponsored by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and aimed to develop the roadmap for setting up the first ever Technology Business Incubation Center (TBIC) in the state of J&K. Workshop prepared ground for setting up of Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Center at SMVDU for initiating the process of S&T based entrepreneurship with special focus on Biotechnology. In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is one of the premier institutes in the country. Dr. Singh called Technology Business Incubation centre (TBIC) as the vision of the prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. The Minster said that Indian students are the most hard working lot in the world and what is required is to tap them young so that an independent aptitude can be developed in them without any pressures and directions from parents. As Minister of Science Technology, Dr. Singh asked for devotion from the citizens of country. In the welcome address Prof. Sudhir K. Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, highlighted the strengths of SMVDU and said that the university has infrastructure and potential and the jugaad to formal technology can do wonders. Prof. S.K. Joshi, Former Director General, CSIR was the Guest of Honor. Prof. S. K. Joshi, former Director General, CSIR delivered the Keynote address and chaired the round table session. Prof. Joshi said that SMVDU has all the ingredients for entrepreneurship. A National Perspective on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Incubation was presented by Shri H. K. Mittal, Advisor & Member Secretary NSTEDB. Sh. Mittal said that SMVDU has Ideas, technology, entrepreneurs and what is required is support from TBI. Prof. V. Verma, Dean Faculty of Engineering presented the vision for TBIC and presented vision of all projects being carried out in SMVDU and said that 100 incubatees can be produced with the proposed TBIC. Sh. Ajay Khajuria, Registrar of the university, deans, directors, faculty members, staff members and students were present on the occasion. Dr. Ashutosh Vashista , the coordinator of the workhop presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Sakshi Gupta conducted the proceedings. The leading thinkers, Technology based business incubators, representatives of financial institutions, RBI officials, presidents and chairman of various industrial associations, directors of research and academic institutions and senior officials of Government of Jammu and Kashmir participated in this workshop. The workshop deliberated on the issues such as the role of incubation in providing a support environment for start-up and fledgling companies, thereby promoting local job creation, economic development and technology transfer
