Dr. Joanne Wellness Tip: Intermittent fasting (IF) may give you that boost to your metabolism that youve been seeking. Studies suggest that IF may help increase fat burning and benefit longevity. Intermittent fasting involves fasting (only water and herbal tea) for 1-2 days per week (days should be non-consecutive). The fast can be as short as 12-18 hours. An alternate is to consume about 500 calories for those 1-2 days per week (consume mostly veggies and some legumes or lean meat). Eat at regular intervals, 3 meals per day (around the same time every day) the other days of the week.
