Dr. K Chacko, It is fantastic to see Chacko at the pulpit of the seminary chapel. In my post yesterday I called him bull headed and persistent. That is a complement which means he never learned what the English word No means or that you do not always have to add never to the phrase I give you. Had he not had these two qualities India Baptist Seminary would not be. I thank him for twisting my arm until it nearly broke and convincing me to come to India. I have known him for over 30 years. This is what I have learned about him. He is a Christian Gentlemen. He loves and respects all human beings. He is obedient to the visions God puts into his head. He never gives up. His accomplishments in life are most remarkable but he remains a humble servant of his lord. He is a lifelong learner. Last summer he saw Bruce Heilman’s autobiography and began reading it. Soon told me he wanted a copy so he could learn more about leadership. He has been a man ahead of his times on many issues. For example where else do women in India study and receive the same degrees as the men in a seminary? He and I have fished together for men and fish. Thanks for all I have learned from you and the good times we have enjoyed in your land and Virginia. The first Baptist Missionary to India once wrote, Expect great things from God, Attempt great things for God. Chacko has lived those words. My wife Ann joins me in sending our love to Chacko, Jane and the seminary community
