I see our ability to live in Well-being as relational, as a field whose qualities are embodied through loving relationships with others and positive, mature self-awareness. To put it simply, “to love and to be loved” is at the very core of our realization of Well-being. And to love with maturity, with genuine depth and kindness, requires Mindfulness. My view of Mindfulness is based, not on subjective awareness per se, but on the interactive field of our relations and on an ability to bring attention and insight to the dynamics of personal interactions and qualitative sharing. Love requires Mindfulness in the sense that our mental and emotional field is shaped by our deepest values and those values condition our ability to truly attend to every interactive relationship we engage. Yes, we need to be aware of our own mental and emotive states but such self-awareness is, for me, directed to a clarity of mind and heart that fosters deeply authentic human, animal, and world relations. For me, this is Wisdom. We each come into the world as living, aware beings and our responsibility is to create a world that exemplifies the highest human capacities. These capacities emerge through our relationships with others, through heart-centered dialogue, through good listening, through genuine loving response, and through a gifted capacity to embody Wellness in connectedness with the depths of Being. This is a sacred process, an evolution within the World Soul such that we are each a vessel of transformation seeking community to embody healthy, loving, and exemplary qualities of Beingness. In this process, the Sophia-Wisdom is the birth-mother that holds open the field of our loving interactions and we embody that Wisdom through creative discovery, inner clarity, and an enduring commitment to the Well-being of all living creatures.
