Dr. Leonard K. Amekudzi: He has a PhD in Atmospheric/Space Physics and Satellite Remote Sensing, an M.Sc in Environmental Physics (University of Bremen, Germany) and M.Phil in Theoretical Physics (University of Cape Coast, Ghana). After his PhD he had a stint as a Post-Doctoral/Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Environmental Physics and Remote Sensing (IUP/Ife), University of Bremen, Germany. He is the first scientist to retrieve night time ozone, NO2 and NO3 from satellite remote-sensing observations (SCIAMACHY) using the lunar occultation technique and has published a book (titled: Stratospheric O3, NO2, and NO3 from Lunar Occultation). Dr Amekudzi has contributed over 20 publications in international Journals and has presented his work in local and international conferences (44 oral and poster papers). He is a member of the following professional societies, American Geophysical Union (AGU), European Geophysical Union (EGU), Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), Institute of Physics (IOP, London, U.K.), and Ghana Science Association. Dr Amekudzi has also participated in the following projects DACCIWA Project: Dynamic-Aerosol-Chemistry-Cloud interactions in West Africa; CCARTCD Project: Climate Change Adaptation Research and Training Capacity for Development; WASCAL Project: West African Climate change and Landuse (KNUST advisor board member, Visiting professor: Abomey-Calavi University, Benin and Bamako University, Mali); QWeCi Project (Project Climate and Remote Sensing Scientist). He is currently a Senior Lecturer, Meteorology and Climate Science Programme, Department of Physics, KNUST, Kumasi and the Coordinator Meteorology and Climate Science Programme.
