Dr. Maher Hathout passed away On behalf of myself, children and Muslim Life at Georgetown University, I Offer my sincere condolences for the passing of Dr. Maher Hathout, a renowned scholar and community leader. Dr. Maher Hathout (1936-2015) died January 2, 2015 in Los Angeles, California after a battle with cancer. Dr. Hathout was a prominent Muslim community leader and widely known as a scholar, a thinker, and a pioneer in interfaith relations. Dr. Hathout was one of the founders of the Islamic Center of Southern California and the founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council. May the Almighty Allah shower him with His mercy and retain him in paradise and endow his family with strength and solace.
