Dr. Mate is one of my heroes, and we share the same mentor in developmental psychology, Dr. Gordon Neufeld. Reading Dr. Mate and studying Dr. Neufelds work gave me the insight that I couldnt have prevented my eating disorders if I had tried! This is where I finally, finally got it - that my struggles with eating disorders, addiction, anxiety and depression were not a character flaw, but had deep origins. Oh, the release of so much self blame... It is my hope and prayer that his work may also soften any shame or self blame that crouches in your own heart.
