Dr. Morowitz (who performed Cohens surgery last week) came in with a different interpretation of the CT scan. He feels that theyre not seeing gas, just air which is common post-op from Reanastomosis (the re-connection surgery). He also believes that Cohens elevated white blood count is due to a bowel infection, which is also common. The doctor is pleased that Cohen has pooped several times & thinks that the volume of waste is what should be expected. He also feels that the wound is healing better & the belly is softer. The plan for today is that Cohen will be on bowel specific antibiotics... that he will be sedated and medically paralyzed to give him a resting day... with the hopes that he will be extubated tomorrow.
