Dr. Neiders from FB: #Urgency Contributes to Stuttering The feelings of urgency contribute significantly to both stuttering frequency and severity. Hence, I say dont urgentize, prioritize. Frequently we feel that we have to get a number of things done. In a conversation, for example, I might want to a) impress a person that I know what I am talking about, b) ask him if he has a job in the area of my expertise, c) find out how his company is doing,... Unraveling my feelings and disputing the urgency, I can clearly establish that neither my world nor I will come to an inglorious ending if I fail to do so. Then I can simply prioritize the other goals (say in the order of first c, then b, then a. I find that by doing this I am more relaxed.
