Dr. Oz did a weight loss experiment with a group of middle age - TopicsExpress

Dr. Oz did a weight loss experiment with a group of middle age women where he gave half the group a weight loss pill and the other half of the group just thought they were getting a weight loss pill, but in fact it was just a placebo pill. The group that took the weight loss pill lost an average of 2lbs a week while the group that took the placebo pill still lost an average of 1lb a week. They weren’t suppose to eat different or start an exercise program or anything. They were instructed to just live as they normally live. Dr. Oz commented that the women who took the placebo pill could have lost weight for the sheer fact that they thought they were taking a pill that allowed them to lose weight. The mind is powerful and can cause our bodies to do amazing things. When I go on a diet, the hardest thing for me to control is my mind. I get “head hunger” before my stomach gets hungry. I just want to eat everything in sight so controlling my mind can be really hard sometimes! Jesus cautioned us to control our mind before we act. He told us to “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Col. 3:2) Romans 12:2 tells us that if we allow God to renew our minds then He will show us what is good and pleasing. The diet and exercise industry is making billions of dollars selling Americans things to transform our earthly bodies. But God wants us to be just as, or even more concerned, with our spiritual health. So today as you eat your skinny meal or feel the urge to eat that candy bar that is not on your diet, control your mind by thinking upon God and His word. Not only will you skip those extra calories, but you will fill your mind with spiritual health too! Win Win! And spiritual health is always a worthy pursuit! Much love, Amy Hebrews 8:10 “I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God and the will be my people.” Ephesians 4:23 “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
