Dr Phil has never been one of my favorites (or any celebrity Dr or whatever he is) BUT I have a new respect for him in doing this show and in saying (in the after clips) that the CDC (and the IDSA IMO) are claiming LYME is not chronic or real because of the insurance lobby not wanting to pay. The other HUGE reason is the drug companies want to keep this EPIDEMIC under wraps until they can find a vaccination or a patented medication that they can make billions off of. And screw anyone already suffering from it I guess... EVIL!! GREEDY!! and this is mean but really hope people like that Dr A who says that chronic Lyme is not real can catch this and feel what it feels like. Boy would his tune change. The first vaccination they came out with a few years back killed many people. Back to the drawing board... I also give Kudos to Dr Bhakta. She has helped many people that I know of in the SC area and she is a REAL Doctor concerned with her patients welfare obviously. In some states MDs can get their licenses pulled for treating chronic Lyme. (SICK!) The WORST part of this is the number of people going on with no diagnosis and getting worse daily, because they have no IDEA they could have it. I am like Cathy the Dr Phil staffer who worked through it all - until I pretty much collapsed at work - and got wrong diagnosis after wrong diagnosis (including my husband and I being told its all in my head by a so-called Expert at UCLA) and also being told in November that I may not make it before finally getting the Lyme test up here in WA in FEB. and was positive first time tested. And STILL insurance doesnt want to cover anything. Mine is getting better with TREATMENT!! and it IS curable. And I thank God for my career, my colleagues and great Drs who helped me to get to the help I needed by sending me to WA, and for my Doctors and the ANGELS, FRIENDS and FAMILY that have supported me this whole way. And no, I never remember being bit by a tick. I never had a rash etc.. Who knows how long I have had this. I will say that I was the picture of health for much of my life. This is a silent disease that can lay dormant a LONG time and if you get knocked back by say a bad dental surgery, acute infections, stress, trauma etc.. an opportunistic disease like this can and will make an appearance. If you know someone with the symptoms of LYME tell them to look it up and go get tested by a LLMD. Lyme Literate Doctor ONLY!! Learning about this could save the life you or someone you care about. Pass it on please.
