Dr. Rassoul meets with German counterpart June 8, 2013 KABUL – Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Zalmai Rassoul met with his German counterpart Dr. Guido Westerwelle at the Presidential Palace in Kabul this morning after the latter’s meeting with H.E. President Hamid Karzai. The two foreign ministers later jointly addressed the media. Dr. Rassoul welcomed the German foreign minister to Kabul and expressed his personal and the Afghan people’s collective thanks for Germany’s steadfast support to Afghanistan over the years. He also thanked Dr. Westerwelle for his personal commitment to the historic Afghan-German friendship. The two foreign ministers discussed and expressed satisfaction about the broad range of bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Germany. Dr. Rassoul also provided a general overview to Dr. Westerwelle about the Afghan government’s peace efforts, preparations for the April 2014 elections and the ongoing transition process. mfa.gov.af/en/News/21121
