Dr. Riki Ott is coming to speak about the Keystone XL and traveling along the route . Dr. Riki Ott witnessed first-hand the ecological destruction and social chaos from the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska––and became an “accidental activist” in its wake. A trained marine toxicologist and former commercial fisher woman, she has written two books on oil spill impacts to ecosystems, people, and communities and starred in Black Wave, an award-winning feature film. She has a PhD in marine toxicology and has taken a stand against oil, tar sands and the use of dispersants like we saw in the Deepwater Horizon disaster. She will be in Wichita on Saturday, July 12th at 2:00 pm at the Great Plains Nature Center , 6232 East 29th St N, Wichita, KS 67220 to speak and have an open discussion with local leaders and environmentalists.
