Dr. Tarek Charaf on politics and religion: Why do humans keep on fighting for a non viable system?? a confessional political system in a multi-confessional country has not proven to be successful... ever!!! the only viable way in such cases, is to separate religion from politics. A secular state, based on laicity and the respect of all religions is the only way out... All religions are respected equally, yet completely separated from the daily political life, political decisions, government employment, etc... The solution has been there for hundred of years... and so has the problem. All those who fought for a similar single confessional system in a multi-confessional land have failed. i can only name a few of them: Alexander the great; Saladin; King Richard the Lion Heart; Adolph Hitler; Theodore Herzl; Imam Khomeini; Ousama Bin Laden, etc... All of them had the common goal of creating single confessional countries, and have failed... History proves that with no needed whatsoever for any supportive document. Yet the vast majority of humans have decided for hundred and thousands of years to overlook that very simple rule, and fight aggressively for a system that has always proven to fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail......... One cannot expect to rule a country, in which a part of the population is disregarded, marginalized and oppressed, for disregard breeds disregard, marginalization breeds marginalization, and mostly, oppression breeds oppression. One either rules and creates an ethical states overshadowed by values, respect, equality, peace, development, etc..., or rules and creates inequality, racism, oppression and other. There is no third solution... it is quite simple. Stop believing lies; open your eyes; embrace your differences and accept them as diversity and enrichment. Religion is between the individual and his/her God only... it is not the business of humans, who none of them as far as i know, has an official heavenly proxy card giving them the right to judge people on this earth. Live and let Live. God is not judging us based on how many humans we hate and oppress; we are actually judged for the exact opposite . Open your eyes... Open your heart... Open your soul. Stop adding problems to a problem that has no solution... FIND A VIABLE WAY INSTEAD .... AN ETHICAL WAY... THE SIMPLE WAY... LIVE AND LET LIVE...RESPECT AND BE RESPECTED.
