Dr. W’s Reflections, Ramblings, and Rants... WE “NEED” THE LORD’S PRAYER (Matt 6:9-13) “...for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” We “need” The Lord’s Prayer. We really do. Why? Because we need to be saved from ourselves. The petitions that Jesus offers us to pray prompts us to be God-focused rather than self-serving in our conversations with God. The Lord’s Prayer invites us to lay our personal lists aside and, instead, humbly seek to live and participate with God in what he is doing in the world. The Lord’s Prayer saves us because it is composed of life-giving words that unite us with the Giver of Life. This prayer functions as a means of grace that not only connects us to God but it also connects us to each other. The Lord’s Prayer is a friend and companion for our amazing journey of faith as we seek to walk in the way of God’s Love together. This is why we “need” The Lord’s Prayer.
