DrAlam Shah, in fact, in terms of use of English and the lure of becoming a bureaucrat to raise ones social status, is what our so called corrupt cultural values demand from every young and ambitious youth ....and set targets for the immature yet ambitious youth to become so called educated waderas fluent in English, and having authority and power to harass, subjugate, loot and befool at the behest of feudals, waderas, military or mere out of their own vested interests. Ironically all that is done in the name of national interests, or in the name of necessary social services. Speaking truth in simpler and straightforward language is not a saleable commodity in the market dear. Presently, in our society, western imperialistic Corporate-capitalist regime is in ominous nexus with the remnants of feudalistic capitalism that have strong roots in our bureaucratic institutions, in our culture (social psychology) , and in political system. Many intelligent friendz serving in bureaucracy and the development sector believe that are perfectly placed in their positions and doing wonderful job for certain supreme cause. Those in academics are happy to have got their PhDs and the mere label (PhD) and pecuniary benefits, culturally set goals, were what they wanted or the society demanded of them.... So better remain hushed-up while in Pakistan. As the saying goes, Do in Rome, as Romans Do. You can speak out whatever you may like while in UK, but may not do so while in Pakistan. Panopticons and the surveillance tools have been implanted all around us to control, check and discipline us here in our beloved liberal Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Our educated youth has been disciplined and brainwashed to the extent that they cannot see that have been blinded.
