Draft Extension Letter! So, we are finally able to tell you all - TopicsExpress

Draft Extension Letter! So, we are finally able to tell you all that we have just received the first draft of the one year extension letter from the East Bay Regional Park District. Our attorneys and environmental experts are looking at it and will be helping us sort through the various details. We are told that the Park Board wants to vote on the extension in open session on Tuesday, November 18th. Now, this is a first draft, not a final document, but it is a start. Our concern of late was whether the Park was even interested in having a range here at all. We consider this first draft sort of a down payment on the concept. If we don’t have the extension in place by the end of the current contract, we have been told that we will go on “month to month” as in the past when contract adjustments were being hammered out. In addition, the Park Advisory Committee has moved the issue of the Marksmanship Range to the 2015 calendar. As a result of these developments, we have begun accepting rental requests from the various law enforcement agencies and training groups that use the range. We also encourage everyone to renew their memberships for 2015. On a more personal note: during the several meetings at the Park headquarters that we have attended recently, one thing really stands out: Mimi Waluch, Concessions Manager, told us that she was both surprised and pleased that the “gun people” were very polite and not at all what she expected. Be sure to keep that up as you continue to make your voices heard and as you encourage your fellow shooters to contact her: Mimi Waluch via [email protected] There will be another Park Board meeting on November 4th, this Tuesday. Public comments are held near the beginning of the open session, around 2 PM. Even though the marksmanship range is not on the posted agenda, you will have an opportunity to speak to the Board if you wish. Several of your CGC staff and board members plan to attend. It would be nice to see you there. In the meantime, encourage everyone who has not yet filled out Jason Siegel’s petition to sign in and leave comments petitions.moveon.org/sign/chabot-gun-club-safe. Also, everyone who has not yet done so, please email me at keeptherangeopen@chabotgunclub so that we can get ready to mobilize as needed. John
