Dragging out the old soap box. Its been a while. Todays gripe. People in motorized wheelchairs or scooters if you prefer. These can be a tremendous help for someone who needs them. I personally find it offensive if you dont and you use this as your means of transportation, because.......... Well maybe you lost your license or dont have a car. These are not road worthy and personally Im tired of dodging you on the road. They are not meant to travel down the highway. Just yesterday I had to dodge a man on Trousdale ferry. This seems to be at least a weekly event. So here he goes putting 2 miles an hour oncoming in my lane, with cars coming in both directions. Oblivious of any dangers as he goes on his daily jaunts to Whartons market. On the way back down the road. Guess what I see this able bodied man carrying his sack of goodie and guess what he was walking and just fine I might add. Awwwww his scooter had died. And you know what? He walks faster than said scooter and actually steps into the grass when cars pass. I have seen the scooters on 231, Sparta pike, heck all over. I think there needs to be a safety law in place on those things. Growing up we had the ocasional drinkers that would have their license pulled. They didnt illegally drive a car like now days. They pulled the deck off a riding lawnmower or rode a tractor to town. But be assured they didnt ride those mowers in traffic long. You know why? Back then with fewer cars on the road it was deemed unsafe. And the police would issue a citation. If there is no sidewalk. Please stay off the road.
